A set exchange rate will apply when you load funds to the card or transfer funds between currencies and to other Qantas Pay cardholders. The exchange rates will be displayed to you before proceeding with your transaction at qantasmoney.com/qantas-pay. For example:

if you complete an debit card load, Bank Transfer, BPAY® load, Apple Pay load, or Google Pay load; or
if you transfer funds from one currency to another, or to a different currency in another member's Qantas Pay facility via qantasmoney.com/qantas-pay or the Qantas Pay app.

The Qantas Pay Daily Rate (also available via qantasmoney.com/qantas-pay) will apply when a currency conversion is required to complete a purchase or ATM withdrawal.

For example: If you transact in a currency that is not available on the card, e.g. Brazilian Reals; or if you transact in a currency that isn’t loaded to your card, e.g. If you make a purchase in USD when you don’t have USD loaded to your card.

No, transactions requiring a currency conversion will be converted at the Qantas Pay Daily Rate with no transaction or currency conversion fee applied.

Qantas Pay is a prepaid Mastercard® payment facility (previously known as Qantas Travel Money built into the back of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership Card.) Qantas Travel Money is no longer available for sale. To be eligible to receive the Qantas Pay card, you must be an Australian resident Qantas Frequent Flyer member 16 years of age or older. EML Payment Solutions Limited ('EML') ABN 30 131 436 532, AFSL 404131 (the Issuer) issues Qantas Pay under arrangements between it, Qantas Airways Limited (AFS representative number 261363) and Mastercard Prepaid Management Services Australia Pty Ltd (AFSL 386837) (a Mastercard business). Mastercard Prepaid Management Services Australia Pty Ltd distributes Qantas Pay (together with Qantas which is an authorised representative of Mastercard Prepaid Management Services Australia Pty Ltd for the purposes of providing general financial product advice with respect to Qantas Pay).

Mastercard Prepaid Management Services Australia Pty Ltd and Qantas earn foreign exchange revenue from Qantas Pay transactions. Mastercard Prepaid Management Services Australia Pty Ltd receives a processing fee from domestic Qantas Pay "point of sale" transactions. Qantas receives revenue generated by Qantas Pay transactions based on interchange fees paid to the Issuer, deposits held by the Issuer, cardholder fee and certain rebates and incentives from Mastercard Asia Pacific/Pte Ltd.

Membership and the earning and redemption of Qantas Points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions. Eligible purchases exclude money orders, traveller’s cheques, gambling chips or purchasing foreign currencies in cash. We may amend these exclusions from time to time by notifying you in writing. You do not earn Qantas Points when loading Australian Dollar, transferring funds from foreign currency to another currency balance or another member’s facility or when withdrawing funds from ATMs or cashing out your facility balance. Purchases that are reversed, refunded or charged-back are also ineligible for Qantas Points earn, in addition to fees incurred. From 1 July 2025, you will earn 1 Qantas Point per AU$1 equivalent loaded directly in foreign currency and when exchanging Australian Dollars to foreign currency, and 1 Qantas Point per AU$1 equivalent on foreign currency spend. You will earn 1 Qantas Point for every AU$4 spent in Australian dollars. Qantas Points are calculated using the Qantas Pay Daily Rate as defined in the PDS, and may vary daily. Points on spend will be awarded monthly based on your statement period, points on foreign currency load will be awarded based on calendar month. Please allow up to 30 days for points to be credited to your account.
Qantas Pay is unable to be used for purchases related to gambling or adult entertainment. Currently Qantas Pay cannot be used in the following countries and geographical regions due to sanctions that are currently in place: Crimea, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, Donetsk and Luhansk. If you attempt to withdraw cash from an ATM or use your Card at merchants in any of these countries and geographical regions, your request will be declined. Additionally, all Mastercard cards will not work at Russian merchants or ATMs. In addition, ATMs or POS terminals may not be owned or operated by the Issuer or Mastercard Prepaid Management Services Australia Pty Ltd (MPMS) and the Issuer and MPMS are not responsible for ensuring that merchants will accept the Qantas Pay card. For example, the Issuer and MPMS cannot control when an ATM or POS terminal is due for maintenance or is faulty or if a merchant chooses not to accept the Qantas Pay card. In such cases, your Qantas Pay card may not function properly or may be declined. For more information, please see the PDS.
Exchange rates for initial loads and subsequent reloads made using Bank Transfer, BPAY or Instant Load via qantasmoney.com/qantas-pay will be set at the prevailing exchange rate set out at qantasmoney.com/qantas-pay at the time you request the load provided the transaction is settled within four hours. Different exchange rates apply for loads initiated directly via Bank Transfer or BPAY using your Unique Payment Details (i.e. not via qantasmoney.com/qantas-pay). If you initiate a load or reload via Bank Transfer or BPAY using your Unique Payment Details, the exchange rate applied will be the prevailing exchange rate at the time the funds are received into your facility. A foreign exchange rate will apply to foreign exchange transactions in accordance with clause 7 of Part B of the Qantas Pay PDS which can be found here.
Some ATM operators may charge a withdrawal fee. In addition, for example, if withdrawing a foreign currency value that is not held in your account, a relevant foreign exchange rate may be applied in accordance with Clause 7 of Part B of the Qantas Pay PDS which can be found here.

Maximum cash you can withdraw over the counter at a financial institution in any 24 hour period. Some financial institutions may set their own withdrawal limits which may be lower than this limit.
The Qantas Money app and Qantas Pay app are owned and operated by Qantas and supported on iOS13+ and Android 6+.
The Qantas Pay app works with eligible Qantas Pay cards on compatible iOS and Android devices. The Qantas Travel Money card (built into the back of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership Card) is not eligible for the Qantas Pay app. To use the Qantas Pay app, Qantas Pay customers must hold the standalone card, issued from 21 May 2024. Existing Qantas Travel Money cardholders can request a Qantas Pay card for use with the Qantas Pay app or via the website.
Earn a total of 1.25 Qantas Points per AU$1 spent on eligible Qantas purchases; calculated as 1 Qantas Point for every AU$4 spent in Australian dollars plus 1 additional Qantas Point for every AU$1. Eligible spend includes flights booked directly through qantas.com, purchases of Qantas Club membership, Qantas Wine, and Qantas Marketplace products. Purchases excluded from Qantas Spend are specified in the Qantas Pay PDS which can be found here.
Earn bonus Qantas Points through personalised Card Offers available in the Qantas Pay app. To be eligible for these offers, you must use your Qantas Pay card to make a qualifying purchase directly with the participating merchant, in accordance with the offer’s terms and conditions. Apple Pay works with eligible Qantas Pay cards on compatible iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac models. See support.apple.com/en-au/km207105 for a full list of compatible devices. The Qantas Travel Money card (built into the back of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership Card) is not eligible for Apple Pay. To use Apple Pay, Qantas Pay customers must hold the standalone card, issued from 21 May 2024. Existing Qantas Travel Money cardholders can upgrade to a Qantas Pay card for use with Apple Pay via the app or website. You can use Apple Pay in stores wherever contactless payments are accepted. You can also use Apple Pay to make purchases with apps or on websites in Safari where Apple Pay is available as a payment option. By adding an eligible Qantas Pay card to Apple Pay on your supported device you are agreeing to the Qantas Pay Apple Pay Terms and Conditions. Apple and Apple Pay are trademarks of Apple Inc.
Google Pay is a facility provided by Google LLC and is subject to Google Pay Terms of Service. Google Pay works with eligible Qantas Pay cards on supported devices. The Qantas Travel Money card (built into the back of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership Card) is not eligible for Google Pay. To use Google Pay, Qantas Pay customers must hold the standalone card, issued from 21 May 2024. You can use Google Pay to authorise and process transactions by using the relevant supported device in place of your eligible Qantas Pay card at a contactless payment terminal. By adding an eligible Qantas Pay card to Google Pay on your supported device you are agreeing to the Qantas Pay Google Pay Terms and Conditions. Qantas Points and Status Credits (where applicable) are earned on Eligible Flights with a Qantas or applicable oneworld® Member Airline or Airline Partner flight number on your ticket. The 0.5% debit card load fee has been waived from 29 May 2025 until further notice.
This 2,000 bonus Qantas Points offer is available to new Qantas Pay customers who: (1) successfully sign up for a Qantas Pay account between 10 Dec 2025 12:00AM (AEDT) and 11 Feb 2026 11:59PM (AEDT); (2) cumulatively load AU$1,000 or equivalent in foreign currency within the first 30 days of card approval; and (3) keep the loaded funds in the account for another 30 days, other than to make purchases or holding an account balance (including transferring to another currency). Transfers between existing currency balances or cards will not contribute to the load requirement. Note, payment for load transactions using BPAY® or Bank Transfer will take additional time to settle. Funds must clear within three business days after the offer end date to be eligible for bonus points.
