There are eight banknotes and five coins. Each Dirham is divided into 100 fils.
The 5 and 10 fils coins are rarely used in day to day life, so expect to see all amounts rounded up or down to the nearest 25 fils. The banknotes are issued with Arabic and European digits on one side, and English and Arabic numerals on the other. Nerd fact – dirham was taken from the ancient Greek currency, the drachma.
