How to load your travel money card
To load money onto your Travel Money card select from these three options:
Instant Load (0.5% fee)
To get funds straight away, you can load using your Mastercard debit card or Visa debit card by selecting the ‘instant load’ option in the Qantas Money app or Qantas Money website. Each transaction will be charged a 0.5% fee of the load amount.
Bank transfer (Free)
To load from your bank account:
- Select 'Bank Transfer' in the Qantas Money app or Qantas Money website.
- Select the currencies and amounts you wish to load
- Complete the transfer through your bank account.
Funds transferred before 2pm AEST/AEDT Monday to Friday will be available the next business day.
To Load with BPAY:
- Choose 'BPAY' in the Qantas Money app or website.
- Choose the currencies you want and the totals you want to load.
- Complete the BPAY using the Biller code and Customer Reference Number that we’ve emailed to you.
Your funds will be available within 2-3 business days.

Qantas Travel Money offers a great option to load and lock in currency rates³, helping you to avoid currency fluctuations when you travel.
Load local currency
When making transaction overseas, you may be asked if you'd like to transact in Australian Dollars or the local currency. If you have the local currency loaded, select to pay in the local currency to avoid foreign transaction costs.

You can load up to 10 foreign currencies onto your prepaid Qantas Travel Money Card. These are: USD, Great British Pound, Euro, Thai Baht, New Zealand Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Japanese Yen, Emirati Dirham.
You can load all currencies at once or one at a time, depending on the nature of your trip. When you do, you’ll lock in the exchange rate for each of them³ – meaning you’ll always know how much you’re spending.
If you’re travelling to a destination where we don’t offer a locked in rate – such as Indonesia, China or South Africa, you can load and spend Australian dollars. Our daily rate for the currency you’re spending in will apply⁵.
The load limits of a Qantas Travel Money card as as follows:
The maximum individual amount you can load onto a Qantas Travel Money card in any 24 hour period is AU$20,000. The maximum amount you can load on a Qantas Travel Money card using instant load is:
- AU$15,000 in any 24 hour period
- AU$30,000 in any 7-day period
- AU$60,000 in any 30-day period
Yes, you can use your prepaid currency card internationally to withdraw money from any ATM/over the counter payment* where Mastercard is accepted. If you are using your card internationally to purchase or withdraw from an ATM, you may be asked if you’d like to transact in Australian Dollars or the local currency⁶.
If you have the local currency loaded onto your Qantas Travel Money card, select to pay in the local currency as the rate is already locked in. If you select to pay in Australian Dollars, or you do not have the local currency loaded onto your card, your currency will be converted for you at the foreign exchange rate for the relevant currency at the time of your transaction⁵.
