What is equity?

Equity is the difference between your home's value and the amount you still owe on your home loan. You may be in a position to borrow against this equity to buy an investment property, do renovations or for other purposes that are acceptable to the funder.

You can access your home’s equity by refinancing or by increasing your borrowings with your existing funder. Refinancing involves replacing your existing home loan with a new one, ideally with better terms and conditions and a lower interest rate.
