What is an investment loan?
Investment loans are a type of loan you can get when you want to purchase or refinance a property to hold as an investment. This differs from an owner occupied home loan which is a type of loan you would get if you intended to live in the property you are applying for.
Our investment variable interest only loan can help you build your property portfolio. Benefit from lower repayments as you just pay the interest charged each month for the interest only term of the loan (max 5 years). Once the interest only period ends, the loan will revert to Principal and Interest repayments. If choosing an interest only loan, you should consider the interest only term (1-5 years) carefully, and budget for a change in repayments once this ends. You should be aware this is likely to result in paying more interest over the total loan period as the principal amount would not be reduced each month.
Can I change from an investment loan to an owner occupied loan?
If your circumstances change and you intend to move into your investment property, you can change from an investment loan to an owner occupied loan. Simply call us on 1300 992 700 to discuss your options.

You can apply for loans on multiple properties, up to a maximum of one owner occupied property and five investment properties. However, we will need separate loan applications for each property (i.e. property cannot be cross-collateralised/securitised).

You can use the equity in your home as an investment property deposit, and if you have enough equity built up, you can borrow 80% of the property’s value without having to use your own cash.
Yes, if you are on a variable rate you can make unlimited additional repayments. If you are on a fixed rate you can make repayments up to $20,000 per annum. You can make additional repayments online by transferring the funds to your home loan account – just like any other bank transfer.
